Home Away took money from my account without authorisation and are delaying putting it back. - Home Away Holiday Rentals
This was a deliberate lie, as the money was taken in less than 24 hours, despite no confirmation from the owner. In fact, as the owner did not contact them, the booking was declined.
You are probably thinking that as they took my money without authorisation within 24 hours, they would replace it within 24 hours when they realised that the booking was declined. To be fair, they did send me an email informing me that the booking was declined and telling me that I would not be charged. No mention of the deposit and office fee.
I have phoned twice and also spoken to the Holiday Rental payments company that they transfer money through ( and who also probably take a cut of the office charge) and from initially being told that my money would be returned not straight away, but in 2-3 days, it has now gone to 5-7 days. Why? we all know how quickly money can be transferred now, so it must be another way of making money on the interest paid.
I have received no satisfactory explanations as staff simply apologise and say they understand my frustration. The holiday rental payments rep even told me that they had had several similar complaints.
There is a total lack of honesty and decency in this company's dealings and having been on several review forums since this happened, I sincerely wish that I had read them before. I only hope that anyone reading this will avoid this company like the plague and take their business elsewhere.
